Doc's California Karaoke, a bar-and-grill restaurant, is set to open March 15 in the Hudson's Grill location in  downtown San Luis Obispo.  "It'll be karaoke on steroids," promises co-owner Doc Thompson, who is buying the business with his wife, Nancy Thompson.  The Thompsons, a karaoke team who have performed for years around the Central Coast, plan to keep the Hudson's retro look.  But there will also be some changes.  "We're taking out a lot of the booths and the stage so there's a level floor for dancing," said Doc. 

The Thompsons say they are still working out the menu details, but they plan on keeping much of what people loves at the old Hudson's, especially it's hamburgers and milkshakes.  While the Thompsons will have their restaurant open daily, they also intend to keep doing their karaoke shows at Bill's Place in Arroyo Grande and at the Otter Rock Cafe in Morro Bay.
